News From The Orphanage- June 2023
Here at Baja Angels of the Sea part of our mission is to serve the orphans and abused women in our community with forbearance, altruism, compassion and love to the best of our ability. This mission is ever growing stronger and more fruitful as the community here and afar continues to help contribute towards the goals we are determined to fulfill.
We have recently started a food drive for the orphanage in aims of supplying the commodities they need the most. We are proud to share that this project has begun receiving donations that are feeding the children. In addition to the food the donations we received were toys for all ages and an electric keyboard.
Recently built close to the orphanage is a women’s shelter that we hope to continue assisting in any way possible. We are honored to share that we have recently received donations to help equip this new facility. Such donations include beds and bedding, furniture, clothes, kitchen appliances and kitchenware.
Last month started our first hair cutting class which is part of our Education & Vocation Project. A number of the older orphans were able to begin learning this trade and determine if they wish to pursue it in the future.
On the property of the Orphanage is an orchard that was once full of 82 fruit trees. During the Covid pandemic this orchard unfortunately was left unattended resulting in the loss of some 44 trees. The plumbing that irrigated the grey water system supplying the orchard decomposed and became inoperable. Few weeks ago we were able to begin uprooting the dead trees, fix the plumbing and determine what additional materials are necessary for this orchard to begin thriving again.
